The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has certified a supplemental type certificate (STC) to Lufthansa Technik to introduce Inmarsat’s Global Xpress (GX) Aviation Ka-band radio wire on Lufthansa’s Airbus A320 family air plane

Lufthansa Technik is a support, repair and overhaul (MRO) service auxiliary of Germany-based aircraft Lufthansa.

A year ago, mobile satellite communication supplier Inmarsat won an agreement to give GX Aviation in-flight connectivity service on Lufthansa’s European continental fleet of more than 150 airplane.

Inmarsat Aviation president Leo Mondale said: “EASA’s accreditation is a vital milestone towards the service dispatch this year, as the A320 family is a prevalent workhorse for manyairlines, business aviation operators and aircraft lessors..
